Born in 1984 in Athens, Greece, Kosmas Koumianos is a professional editorial photographer with a career spanning over a decade of experience.
Based in Athens but committing to assignments worldwide, Kosmas has developed from an early age an eclectic sense of aesthetics, a deep knowledge of the contemporary visual culture and a distinctive photographic style capturing the beauty, the personality and the uniqueness of his subjects. Listed among Greece’s top Portrait & Fashion photographers, his extensive body of work reveals in every aspect his life’s true passions: nature, people and travel.
Having the privilege of working with highly respected names in the beauty and fashion industry such as Dior, L’Oréal, Yves Saint Laurent, Carolina Herrera, Boss, Puma, H&M, La Mer, Estée Lauder to name a few, Kosmas advertising and digital campaigns tackle instantly the viewers’ imagination with their soulful storytelling and attention to detail. Despite being a professional photographer raised in the digital era, his rich portfolio includes collaborations with prominent print publications such as Assouline, and his fashion and portrait images regularly appear on the pages of many top-selling glossy magazines like Marie Claire, Madame Figaro, InStyle and Hello!
Close to his heart though will always be the world-wide documentary trips for non-profit organizations such as ActionAid; photographic projects that combine traveling in new lands, exploring different cultures and focusing on the beauty, grace and kindness of true human connection.
Kosmas has initially studied Computer Science, but his passion for Photography soon lead him to grow his skills and graduate from Athens and then New York with a master’s degree in Editorial Portraits. When he is not on an assignment, he’s more than likely travelling the world to shoot personal projects that will later be turned into art exhibitions or deluxe editions. He’s also an avid vinyl record collector and a true aficionado of the so called “boyz toys”; namely watches, motorcycles and fast cars. Born in a traditional sailor family, his love for the sea and maritime life is deeply rooted in his DNA and evident throughout his work, from the wild ocean landscapes to the breathtaking underwater portraiture.
